| A National Park car park is available in
Glenridding, although there is limited 'free' (at certain times during
the winter months) roadside parking on the main road close to the car
park entrance. (distance 8.5 miles) |

| Leave the National Park car park northwestern corner,
passing the Health Centre, then left up the road passing a pub on the
right. Where the road bends sharp right, go left down to Mires

| Cross over Mires Beck and follow the path up hill in
the direction of Birkhouse Moor. Pass the first wall-stile on the
right, then across then next one on the right to join the higher path

| When above Greenside Mine, cross down over the
footbridge to the buildings, then follow the path left going up into the
valley between Catstye Cam and Stang. (photo: The way up to Red Tarn.) |

| Continue on this path as it gently climbs up between
Red Screes and Catstye Cam, then join the path off right zigzagging up
to the east of Red Screes. The path levels out and joins the path

| From Raise, drop down to Sticks Pass, then right onto

| Follow the rocky path down below Stang End to reach the
buildings at Greenside Mine area. Turn left and follow the track

| The track becomes a lane at the houses on the
left. Follow the lane down to the road used at the start down to
