Blencathra via Scales Tarn from the Blencathra Centre
Weather on the Fells can change rapidly ... up-to-date weather on 0870 0550575
(Distance 8.7 miles)
A small car park area is available close to the Blencathra Centre.  Also, a small car park is in Threlkeld village on the road leading to the centre.
From the Blencathra Centre, follow road back down for a short distance then off left on the footpath just before High Row Farm.  The path climbs up a little then goes left above High Row Farm.

Continue on the path passing over Blease Gill and Gate Gill to below Doddick Fell.  The path is diverted here up a little, then back over Scales Beck to near Scales.  Above Scales, the path starts to climb diagonally (left to right) around Scales Fell to above Mousthwaite Comb.

The path now descends from Blease Fell southwesterly.  Halfway down there are two options, right for a longer but staggered descent, or straight down for a steeper drop.  (we went for the gentler route)

Whichever way, both routes lead back down to the Blencathra Centre, which can be easily seen from the path.
