Blencathra Centre |

| A small car park area is available close to the
Blencathra Centre. Also, a small car park is in Threlkeld village
on the road leading to the centre. |

From the Blencathra Centre, follow road back down for a
short distance then off left on the footpath just before High Row
Farm. The path climbs up a little then goes left above High Row
Farm.

Continue on the path passing over Blease Gill and Gate
Gill to below Doddick Fell. The path is diverted here up a little,
then back over Scales Beck to near Scales. Above Scales, the path
starts to climb diagonally (left to right) around Scales Fell to above Mousthwaite
Comb.

Continue on the path into the valley now between Scales
Fell and White Gorse Bent, on the Scales Fell side.

Turn left at the bottom of the outflow from Scales Tarn
and follow the path up to Scales Tarn.

At Scales Tarn, go left on the steep path up onto the
western end of Scales Fell.

The path now zigzags up to Blencathra summit.

From the summit, follow the path westerly keeping to
the southern edge of the saddleback. Pass above Middle Tongue and
Knowe Crags to Blease Fell.

The path now descends from Blease Fell
southwesterly. Halfway down there are two options, right for a
longer but staggered descent, or straight down for a steeper drop.

Whichever way, both routes lead back down to the
Blencathra Centre, which can be easily seen from the path.
