Continue from Haystacks down to Scarth Gap, again there are alternative paths to choose from.  At Scarth Gap, turn left and follow the path down along side the deforested area to Black Sail Hut.  (A good location for lunch.)

Pass the Black Sail hut, and just before the footbridge over the River Liza, take the footpath branching off to the left. Follow the path as it rises on the left side of the beck, that forms the River Liza, to Stone Cove.  This is below Green Gable Grags and Great Gable.  At Stone Cove, take the footpath left, below Green Gable Crags.

The path passes to the west of Brandreth, then drops below Grey Knotts.  From there it passes over to Fleetwith, where the path is soon joined that was used on the way out to Haystacks.  Continue on retracing the route from the start until joining the dismantled tramway.
