| Tea was brought to the
tents at 0600, followed 15 minutes later by a bowl of hot washing water.
Breakfast was generally one hour after bed-tea, at which time all
bags/rucksacks had to be packed so tents could be dismantled and on the
move to the next camp. (This was the routine throughout the trip, although
the washing water wasn’t used in the latter stages ......... a bit too
cold in the snow and ice!) |
 |
| The morning sky was
clear, providing us with our first view of snow-cover mountains. (names if
possible) Today was the day that the ‘early morning’ Camera Club was
started by ‘Tassy’ Mac (from Tasmania). It became a regular ‘cheerful
& noisy’ meeting at around 0530'ish most mornings. So,
breakfast, photos etc. out of the way, we were on the trail to our next
camp site. The track climbed steadily through woods then passed around the
headland. It was about 1200 when we arrived at Puiyan village
(2730m/8918ft) where we stopped for lunch. |
 |
| After lunch, we
continued through the woods following the contours of the land. (Not long
after setting off, clouds developed obscuring the mountain tops.) After
about an hours walking, we came to a path junction, with one branching off
left straight up the mountain side ..... guess which we took? What a steep
climb! The first test of our energy and fitness. |
 |
We arrived at Camp 2 at
1445, shrouded in cloud. Heavy rain, thunder and lightening arrived late
evening, just as we retired for the night.
