Leave the car park and head across
the green towards the new flintstone houses. Pass between the houses and
continue right and up to the country lane. Turn right and follow the lane
around until the path going up the concrete track on the right. Go right up
the track, following the path left of the farm yard, to meet a footpath
crossroad.

Go straight on, joining the South Downs Way, over to
the country lane. Follow the road right until the Trout Fishing lake, then
left onto the footpath following the road to Whitewool Farm. Continue
around the large house, then right onto the track, avoiding the path that
continues straight on. Continue up the track, then through a 5-bar metal
gate, going diagonally left-to-right up hill.

At the top, go left on the road to the first Old
Winchester Hill car park, then into the car park. (Avoid the footpath left,
just inside the car park, that follows the side of the road.) Go through to
the back left of the car park, through the wooden gate, then left onto the
footpath.

The path now skirts around the top of a valley to meet
a gravel track. Turn right and follow the track out to Old Winchester Hill.
Pass through a gate, up left then straight right to follow the path along
the top to the Trig Point of Old Winchester Hill.

Go left, then straight right across the side of a
field to the track at the farm cottages. Turn left then continue along the
track, soon going around a right-hand bend and up to meet the road leading
up to Old Winchester Hill.

Continue north, then down the northern side through
the bush area, then straight between enclosed fields. Take the footpath off
right, then down the left side of the field to join a concrete track.

Follow the track to just before the farm yard of Peake
Farm, then onto the footpath going left around the barn to meet the road at
the other side of the farm yard.

Turn left down the road, and immediately after
crossing over the bridge, join the footpath off right. Follow the footpath
down onto the disused Meon Valley Railway track. Go left following the track
up to the parking area.

At the car park, follow the access road out to
the road going down to West Meon, then down left until the footpath off
right. Follow this footpath off right, soon crossing over a the narrow Meon
River and up to the main road at West Meon. Go right and follow the road for
just over a mile to the entrance to Westbury House.

Go right up the entrance, over the bridge with a pond
on the right, continuing on a path going into Hen Wood (confirm wood
name). The path heads up through the wood, (easy to follow) eventually
passing up the left side of an open area. Near the top, go left on the path
skirting around the grounds of a woodland cottage.

Pass through a gate, then left down the side of
another open space in the wood. At the bottom left corner, go through left
and onto a wide gravel woodland track. Turn right up the track, and where
the track bends sharp right, go straight on along the footpath. The path
soon goes left over a stile into a field. Turn right along the side of the
field, over two stiles to join a track. Go left down to the East/West Meon
road at Drayton Cottages.

Go left over the Meon River, then at the end of the
high garden hedge on the right, take the very narrow enclosed path off
right. (Very overgrown with nettles from spring onwards - very stingy in
shorts!) Continue to follow the path through fields, passing a large
country house to the left, to join a lane at a cottage above East
Meon. Go right down the lane, over the next road, to soon arrive
back at the car park entrance.
