A Circular walk  north from Exton in the Meon Valley, Hampshire

Distance 7.5 Miles

Limited road-side parking is available on the second slip road into Exton village, traveling from the Corhampton direction on the A32, adjacent to where the River Meon passes under the A32.
From the parking area, head down towards Exton Village, passing Exton Church on the right with the River Meon on the left.  Continue on the road as it turns right, avoiding the road off to the left.  As the road sweeps left at the back of the village, take the footpath right between two gardens (fingerpost).

Cross the stile at the top corner of the field, then right across the path through a field to a stile leading onto a farm track.  Cross over the track and continue to follow the path through the fields.  Cross over stiles to pass through a narrow wooded area, then follow the path up hill with Beacon Hill on the right.  Leave the field via a stile to join a metaled road. Continue on the road for a few hundred yards until the next finger post on the right.  Join the footpath then follow the path to the parking area at the entrance to Beacon Hill.

From the parking area, join the road and head north to the first right-hand corner.  At this point, join the track/path the goes off left to Lomer Farm.  Continue on the path into Lomer Farm yard.  Follow the road to the right, then join the track that heads south.  (The Wayfarer's Walk)

Follow the track down to the left corner, go left then soon after right onto a path on the left side of a field.  Cross the stile at the far end, then head across open ground to where a tracks goes up and right alongside the woods.

Continue alongside the woods, then across a small field and through another small wood.  The path continues over another field.

At the end, pass through a stile, down left then right towards a tennis court of a rather nice country house.  Near the tennis court, turn left into a wood.  The path now winds through the wood outside the grounds of a the house.  Near the end of the lake in the grounds of the house, turn right, down for a short distance, then left.

  Pass through a gate/stile into a large field and follow the path down the centre of the field towards St Clair's Farm.

The path meets a farm track, turn left into a field keeping the edge on the left.  Follow the path up to where a country lane is reached.  Cross the lane and join the path going down into Corhampton Forest.  A wide track leads east through the forest, dropping after a while into a clearing, then rising to near the end of the forest.

Take the footpath left just before the end of the wood, as it winds right to exit into a field.  Follow the path on the left of the field.  Halfway down the field, the path passes through into the field on the left then continues along the same hedge to join another country lane.  Cross the lane and follow the wide track as it descends into a valley.

The track passes Exton Stud at the end of the valley and joins a metaled road.  Follow the road past the first left turn, around a left-hand bend to a 'T' junction.  Turn right, then take the second left into Exton village high street.  (The Shoe public house is worth a visit!)

Continue past The Shoe to join the road near Exton Church, the road used at the start.  Turn right and follow the road for a short distance back to the car park.
