There is a very small parking area opposite the entrance to the campsite, at
the start of the footpath to Birds Rock
|
From the car park, take the path going up the side of Birds Rock. Follow the
path uphill until the path off to the right (not marked). Go right up
between the hills until the wooden bench is reached.

Continue to follow the path to the exposed northern summit. From the summit,
go to below the main summit of Birds Rock. Follow the path right up a steep
bank, bearing left over a rocky section to the summit. The summit is
actually a stone circular wind-shelter.

Leaving the summit, head east towards the dry-stone wall to join the track
skirting Birds Rock. Turn right onto the track and follow around Birds Rock
to Coed Gesail.

Continue to follow the track downhill to reach the entrance to the farm at

then left through the yard to join the lane below the northern Birds Rock
summit.

Turn right on the lane, then left and continue to the bridge over the river.
Just over the bridge, go right between two pillar, following the track of to
the left. Keep right at the next split, following the signs for Tyn-y-cornel,
passing a small cottage then the large house with tennis court.

As the track goes uphill on a gravel section to Tyn-y-cornel cottage, turn
right at the fingerpost sign. Pass the derelict farm buildings, keeping
right as the path reaches a gate to a field.

Go through the gate, follow the path alongside the wall and through the next
gate/style, continuing to another gate. Go through, then follow the track
down and right through the woods to open area with views of Birds Rock.
Follow the path and through the gate to a tarmac road. Turn left and follow
the road up to Dysefin Farm.

On approaching the farm entrance, take the grassy footpath off left uphill
along the back of the farm. Continue along the path alongside the trees to
the left, passing an rundown building, to exit close to a stream. Go right
to the gate in the corner, pass through, and follow the path alongside the
fence.

Go through another gate, cross the field heading for the bridge over the
river, giving access to the campsite. Follow the track through the small
campsite, passing the farm cottages, to join the narrow lane. Turn right and
it is a short walk to the parking area.
